Pore-by-pore air flow calculations

Molar flow thought pores with different diameters under 1 psi. First, I calculated molar flow based on porosity histograms extracted from TEM images. And then compared it with the actual experimental data. Here are few examples of this. molar%20flow.ppt

Production from 1.31.2008

Six wafers (385-390) were produced last week with the new Solaris 150 RTP system. Good news: We now have much better control/feedback compared to the RIT setup. There are two thermlecouples on the wafer tray that monitors the front and

Stir Cell

This is a side view schematic of the experiments I’m setting up in Mike and Derek’s stir cell. The membrane separates two wells. In the well where the membrane is flush with the wafer I add 300uL 5nm gold in

TEM images of Ti+Au coated membranes (Wfr#313)

The coating was done last week at RIT (it was postponed from two weeks ago because of the failure of the e-beam crystal sensor). I deposited 10nm Ti and 15nm Au, without vacuum breaking. All the samples are from wafer

TEM images of Actin on W303

A droplet (3uL) of 0.117 uM actin solution was added on membrane W303(0,2). Let the membrane sit in humidity Chamber for 20 min. Remove excess liquid. Add equal volume of Uranyl Acetate on membrane. Wait 90 sec. Remove excess liquid.

Organization

I am trying to build a helpful spreadsheet that outlines all the experiments perfomed with a particular wafer. It also lists the conditions and quality of the wafer. Any other suggestions would be helpful. To view the spreadsheet, click here.

TE membranes air permeability

This is preliminary data for air permeability in track-etched membranes for membranes with different pore radius. For comparison here is a table of the performance characteristics for TE membranes Measured data is of the same order as official TE membranes data.

Depleted Serum Separation Attempt

I’m currently trying to compare separations between different complex protein mixture. This was my first crack at depleted human serum. This mixture has been processed so that the most common blood proteins (such as albumin and immunoglobulins) have been removed.
