stir cell

Art is going to make a second stir cell this week. I asked him to replicate it as closely as possible, however I’m not sure how well that’s going to work. The one we currently have is made out of

Chemical Stability of W613

W613, the wafer with 30 nm thick pnc-Si was tested for chemical stability. This wafer was shown to be very weak mechanically, with burst pressures less than 1 PSI. I tested this wafer for chemical stability with cells (fibroblasts, P26)

Water Permeability

I’ve been working on trying to fill in some of the blanks of the permeability paper, and I’ve been fiddling with the water permeability data. I plotted the old water permeability data as a scatterplot, and while there looked like

No success with UV Ozone Bonding at 100C with High Humidity

Following the advice of Dave and Chris I ran a UV Ozone bonding trial yesterday with the stage temperature set to 100C (instead of the usual 25C). The idea behind the elevated stage temperature is to drive off any water

W613: Mechanical Testing

W613, the wafer with 30 nm thick pnc-Si that is oddly etched to form “H” shaped membranes, was tested for burst pressure and attempted to measure air permeability. When doing air permeability all samples broke, meaning are very weak. This

W620: Mechanical Testing

The production crew recently delivered W620 to the lab, which was created to mimic W504 (and W612). W620 shows high burst pressure and has air permeability comparable to W504/612.

First results on polyimide deposition

I made a small presentaion for tomorow. Promise to upload it on the web tomorrow (can’t make ftp work right now).  polymer2

Spectrophotometer raw data

Upload just for future reference. This includes the data of KMnO4 serial dilutions absorbance and the stir cell diffusion experiment.

Adsorption Quantification VII

I realized last week that I had made a pretty substantial mistake with my quantification which involved my mass standards.  Half way through running the gels for the previous study I had accidentally started making my mass standards at a

Stir Cell KMnO4 Diffusion Curves: strange and interesting

I got three pinhole-free membranes from Karl after the inspection. They are from wafer#612. Locations are (-3, 1), (-3, 2), and (-3, 3). I used the UV/Ozone machine to oxidize and charge two of them while leaving the third one
